Hi folks, Saw this at the Ordnance Survey outdoor show: http://www.satmap.com
Looks like a cool device, available in June for 300UKP (disclaimer: thats what the guy on the stand said). Had a chat with one of the sales guys about it. There are some downfalls though, no NMEA output yet, it's version 1 (usual early adopters disclaimer applies). It's aimed sqaurely at the outdoor market, so no road navigation. So, no one GPS for all uses. Claimed to have a long battery life. Apparently it can collect stats about trips, but I didn't find out how much memory it had or how it can get that info to other devices. It uses OS maps on a SD card. Would be interesting to see what format the maps come in and how easy it would be to create maps.
