Well now I feel obligated to show off my baby - the deCarta APIs. You can
see the comments from me at the end of the list apart article - and I am
working on our "guide for the impatient" this week and next so it should be
ready soon. We offer both JavaScript *AND* XML over HTTP APIs. Can you self
host with your own data - check. Did Google and Yahoo launch and become
famous using our technology - check. Are we powering Loopt, telenav,
hotels.com, zillow, multiMap, and Ask (both maps and mobile mapping) -
check. Whoa nelly that was a bit over the top.

My main point is that in addition to certain other map players out there,
who have large market caps to subsidize their free mapping apis - there are
other players out there that offer more than some of the more well know
APIs. By the way our APIs are free as well while you are doing your
development work.
