Hi all,

I'm working on undergraduate syllabi for the Fall and would like to update a
few readings. I'm hoping for suggestions of some strong, accessible pieces of
the
type one might find in, say, Harper's Magazine or the New York Review
of Books. Well-written articles meant for an academic audience would also
be great.

I am looking particularly for pieces that will help students understand:

1. The nature of the global economy, links between the workings of the economy
and the global environmental condition, and "the economy" as a site and/or
mechanism of governance in response to environmental challenges.

2. Links between science and policy, ideally shedding some light on current
debates about the creation of scientific knowledge and how it might be (or not
be) translated into policy responses.

Thanks for any and all suggestions. Please respond to me at
[email protected], and I'll compile a summary for the list.

Best wishes,
Simon
