Post-doctoral Fellow (Ref: PDF/SSC/0910)
Department of Social Sciences

A qualified and dedicated person is sought to co-teach and/or teach courses,
and to conduct research related to that teaching, for the Department of
Social Sciences. Course teaching and related research will be in some or all
of the following areas: globalization and international justice; world
ethics and climate change; environmental change, sustainability and society;
and animal rights. Duties will include preparation for classes and delivery
of lectures, conduct of classroom discussions, collaboration with one other
teacher, marking and grading, student mentoring and supervision, adherence
to teaching quality guidelines, teaching administration, and all other
teaching-related responsibilities as prescribed by departmental management,
as well as all normal duties associated with research in the related areas.
The appointment will be full-time for approximately six months, depending on
salary, ideally starting on or about 1 December 2010.[H1] <#_msocom_1> A
part-time appointment, possibly for a longer period of time, may be
considered for the right candidate seeking flexibility.

Applicants should have a doctoral degree in a related area (international
relations, political science, environmental policy, political philosophy,
ethics, sustainable development or similar field). Recent PhD graduates are
especially welcome. An outstanding command of English, including an ability
to deliver lectures, research and write in English to deadlines, is
essential. A track record of publication or demonstrated contribution to
publications in English would be a distinct advantage. Teaching experience
is preferred but not strictly essential for candidates with credentials
proving ability to teach for the first time.
