Subject: Penn State "politics of energy" position
To: [email protected]

Could you please post the following to the ISA Environmental Studies
listserv?
-- thanks

Greetings. I am chairing the search committee for a new position in "the
politics of energy," which is part of a university-wide effort to augment
faculty in the Penn State Institutes of Energy and the Environment
(http://www.psiee.psu.edu/default.asp). The position has been advertised on
the
American Political Science Association eJobs site, but I also wanted to
contact
other individuals who might be interested or know someone who would be
interested. I would also be happy to answer any questions people might have
about the position. Our initial deadline is 25 October, but we will consider
applications after that date.

Thank you.

----------------------------------

The Department of Political Science invites applications for the position of
advanced Assistant or Associate Professor of Political Science with
interests
in the politics of energy, to begin in Fall 2011. This position is co-funded
by
the Penn State Institutes for Energy and the Environment (PSIEE), which
provides a university-wide network of collaborators in social science,
natural
science, and engineering fields related to energy and the environment. The
position is open with respect to subfield. Potential areas of interest
include,
but are not limited to, international institutions and bargaining over
energy
resources, the political economy of energy/oil production or the trade of
energy, domestic legislative or lobbying behavior relating to energy, links
between energy and resources and international/civil conflict, regime types
and
energy politics, or the impact of federalism on diffusion and innovation in
energy policies. Candidates should have substantial methodological skills
including training in formal or quantitative methods. Faculty positions at
Penn
State involve substantial research support; in addition, junior positions
offer
significant release time. Candidates should have the demonstrated ability to
publish in high-quality venues and to win external funding, and have good
teaching credentials. Candidates must have their Ph.D. in hand by Fall 2011.
Applications received by October 25, 2010, will receive first priority.
Electronic submission of applications is strongly preferred, to
[email protected]. Applicants should send a cover letter
explaining
their research and teaching experience, a current CV, samples of scholarly
writing, and teaching evaluations (with a key). All candidates should
request
letters from three references to be sent directly to the search committee.
If
electronic submission is not possible, applications may be mailed to:
Politics
and Energy Search, Department of Political Science, 219 Pond Lab, The
Pennsylvania State University, University Park, PA 16802. Penn State is
committed to affirmative action, equal opportunity and the diversity of its
workforce.
