My sincere apologies for the redundancy. It was pointed out to me that the

nonfunctional. His e-mail address is in the cc line above and is

Subject: AESS Journal Seeks Your Help!

Dear GEP-Ed Folks:

I write on behalf of the Editor-in-Chief of the new Journal for Environmental
Studies and Sciences (JESS), the quarterly flagship publication of the
Association for Environmental Studies and Sciences (AESS). The first issue of
JESS will appear in March 2011. The journal will be available in both
electronic and (optional) hard copy. The new Journal is seeking reviewers and
book review editors.

The journal provides a credible, peer-reviewed forum for the publication and
dissemination of articles and other contributions distinguished by
interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary, or cross-disciplinary environmental
content. JESS is produced by Springer Publications and edited by Walter "Tony"
Rosenbaum, Emeritus Director of the University of Florida's public policy
center. The Board of Editors includes distinguished scholars, policy
practitioners, consultants, and other experts from a broad array of disciplines
and institutions associated with environmental affairs. The current Board
roster is attached, and is also available on the Journal website at
www.springer.com/environment/journal/13412<https://legacy.mail.ufl.edu/OWA/redir.aspx?C=74b1217ad45942caa03a2672dfcf04f4&URL=http%3a%2f%2fwww.springer.com%2fenvironment%2fjournal%2f13412>.

AESS is committed to promoting and improving the rich diversity of activities
associated with interdisciplinary environmental science and study. The
Association and the flagship Journal are intended to reach an international
constituency and to provide a venue for publications, conferences, discourse,
advocacy, and related activities inherent to interdisciplinary environmental
matters. Association membership includes individuals representing academic and
governmental positions, research, policy practice and advocacy, the fine arts,
public education, the humanities and related environmental activities. Initial
response to AESS has been encouraging. Since its founding in 2009, AESS has
grown to more than 800 members, a substantial proportion representing numerous
academic Environmental Studies programs.

We are hoping that there are some among you who would be interested in
occasionally reviewing manuscripts or serving as a book review editor for JESS.
Expectations for all reviewers should be reasonable, with respect for the
considerable personal and professional responsibilities already common to good
journal reviewers. Editorial Board members will occasionally receive a request
to review a manuscript or to suggest other reviewers, and knowing there are
some of you out there willing to help would be a great boon to the journal.
Book Review editors will have available books and administrative assistance
through the JESS administrative offices at the National Council for Science and
the Environment (NCSE) in Washington DC. Review Editors are also encouraged to
initiate book reviews, to commission or write review essays, and to join other
Associate Editors in developing Journal editorial policy.

Individuals interested in helping to oversee book reviews or review manuscripts
should contact the Editor-in-Chief at
[email protected]<https://legacy.mail.ufl.edu/OWA/redir.aspx?C=74b1217ad45942caa03a2672dfcf04f4&URL=mailto%3atonyros%40ufl.edu>.
Either Tony or I are happy to answer questions about this request, or the
journal more generally.

Thank you for your time and consideration, and apologies for cross-postings
(we're sending this message to the GEP-Ed and NEES lists).

Sincerely,

Rich
