Hi folks, this is a query from a colleague of mine here, contact him directly if you are interested. thanks Peter _________________________
Dear Sir, Madam: I am Dr. Daniel Marien, lecturer in political science at the University of Central Florida in Orlando. I am looking for instructor interested in collaborating in a global online educational forum related to the global politics of energy. The forum would link faculty and students from various countries to exchange views and collaborate in research projects on the politics, economics, cultural and other social aspects of global energy production and consumption. Students tend to view energy from a national standpoint. The energy system, however, is globally integrated and shaped by inter-dependence. The energy system also stands at the forefront of important global challenges such as climate change mitigation, international competition for scarce resources, technological change, economic development and poverty alleviation. The global energy educational forum will feature the sharing of video-captured faculty lectures, asynchronous discussion boards, faculty and student blogs, student collaborative research reports published on electronic platforms and other forms of electronic interactions. The core concept is to use the internet to bring together faculty and students from different horizons to discuss issues related to the global energy system and enrich one another’s understanding. My own course focuses on the political aspects of traditional versus alternative energy, energy security and international relations, climate change, energy efficiency, energy poverty and economic development, and historical change in the global energy system. I would like to invite interested faculty teaching either online or traditional courses with partly or fully overlapping themes to indicate their interest in a response email to [email protected]. I am hoping to activate the global energy educational forum in time for fall 2011. A number of pedagogical and technical issues must be settled before then. A prompt response would facilitate the process. Thank you for your attention to this matter, Dr. Daniel Marien University of Central Florida [email protected]
