Environmental Studies colleagues (apologies for cross-posting):  Wanted to 
update you on the progress of the launch of the new International Environmental 
Communication (http://environmentalcomm.org):

1.  Our web site has garnered nearly 2000 views since our launch--from 85 
different countries

2.  Our 40+ founding members to date come from 11 different countries.

3.  6 individuals have nominated themselves for election to our initial Board 
of Directors--2 from India, 1 from UK, 1 from Bermuda, 1 from the Netherlands, 
and 1 from the US.  Biographical information on these candidates can be found 
at http://environmentalcomm.org under "elections."

A truly international start for our association!!

Last week, we announced that we were offering a student "founding member" rate 
of $60 USD (along with $100 USD individual $500 USD organizational).  Today, we 
are announcing special 2011 "founding member" rates for individuals or 
organizations coming from nations classified by the World Bank as below high 
income  (see 
http://data.worldbank.org/about/country-classifications/country-and-lending-groups).
  Special rate for these folks--$40 USD individual, $20 USD student, $100 USD 
organizational.  If you think you qualify for this special rate, please contact

We are accepting founding memberships throughout the year (go to 
http://environmentalcomm.org and click on "become a founding member" for 
details), and are also accepting self-nominations for Board of Directors 
positions through April 1 (go to http://environmentalcomm.org and click on 
"call for self-nominations").

In the near future, we will be releasing more information about the voting 
process, which will take place starting April 23.  Get involved with the new 
association!
