Good morning,
Following up on D.G. Webster's email yesterday about ISA in San Diego
2012 I thought I would see about the interest in panels relating to
oceans and fisheries.
I am interested in organizing and submitting some panels (at least one,
no more than three) focusing on ocean and fisheries broadly speaking.
The impetus for this is that in 2012 marks the 30th anniversary of the
signing of the Law of the Sea and it would be interesting to see if
there are people out there thinking about its impact, its problems, the
issues of LOS vs. Convention of biodiversity etc.
My own work has been on fisheries cooperation and maritime boundary
disputes and has been framed using the Law of the Sea, but I am also
interested in issues that have to do with the ocean as a factor in
climate change (global warming and acidification), ecosystem management
across boundaries, the emerging effort of maritime spatial planning etc.
If there are topics beyond this, I am willing to consider those as well.
Feel free to circulate this email broadly if you know of anyone who
might be interested in participating. And if you are interested, please
contact me before May 10th so that I have time to put these together and
submit them to ISA.
Thank you,
