FYI - for those of you who do research on the Global South. This is a new
caucus at ISA.

Regards,

Pam

The Global South Caucus plans to propose the holding of a workshop (Working
Group) at ISA 2012 on the topic, "Teaching, Learning, Researching, and
Publishing about the Global South."

Issues to be addressed during the workshops include:

teaching: the role of innovative technologies, the nuances of the
transmission of information, course content and advancement;

research: theoretical, epistemological and methodological approaches to
dealing with
the south, and problems in doing research in the south;

publishing: the how to's of getting published in mainstream journals and with
well-known
publishers.

Workshops meet about three times during the convention and
usually have about 20-25 participants.

The Global South Caucus is dedicated to a balance of experience and
apprenticeship.
We are sending out this notice to try to ascertain beforehand how many
persons would be interested in attending these sessions.

We would appreciate it if you could disseminate to your members, asking them to
reply if they would like to participate to me:
 Lisa Ann Richey, Program Chair, GSCIS. ([email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>)

Thank you so much for your support and for spreading the word about the Global
South caucus.

cheers, Lisa (on behalf of the GSCIS officers)
