[Apologies for cross-posting] Colleagues--Wanted to give you a quick update on progress made by new International Environmental Communication Association (IECA).
*We've hired a fabulous Executive Director in Mark Meisner, who is at work promoting the new association and building a web site that will serve our members. *In the past week, we have added 13 new individual founding members and 1 new organizational member (Biodiversity Project from Chicagoland area), bringing us to 170 individual and 7 organizational members representing 26 countries. *Our members have been discussing a lot of interesting projects, including the formation of a South/Central American research group that will be putting together a proposal to attend an upcoming conference in Brazil. *We are putting together a Student Working Group that will promote research and career interests of enviro comm students from around the world. *The IECA flagship journal, ENVIRONMENTAL COMMUNICATION: A JOURNAL OF NATURE AND CULTURE (www.tandfonline.com/renc), earned an ISI impact factor for 2010 of .568, increasing its 2009 impact factor by over 400% We'd love to have you join the growing movement to promote environmental communication research, teaching, and practice globally.
