Colleagues--Wanted to give you a quick update on progress made by new
International Environmental Communication Association (IECA).

*We've hired a fabulous Executive Director in Mark Meisner, who is at work
promoting the new association and building a web site that will serve our
members.

*In the past week, we have added 13 new individual founding members and 1 new
organizational member (Biodiversity Project from Chicagoland area), bringing us
to 170 individual and 7 organizational members representing 26 countries.

*Our members have been discussing a lot of interesting projects, including the
formation of a South/Central American research group that will be putting
together a proposal to attend an upcoming conference in Brazil.

*We are putting together a Student Working Group that will promote research and
career interests of enviro comm students from around the world.

*The IECA flagship journal, ENVIRONMENTAL COMMUNICATION: A JOURNAL OF NATURE
AND CULTURE (www.tandfonline.com/renc), earned an ISI impact factor for 2010 of
.568, increasing its 2009 impact factor by over 400%

We'd love to have you join the growing movement to promote environmental
communication research, teaching, and practice globally. Please visit our web
site at http://environmentalcomm.org for more information.

Exciting times are here!!
