Position Summary:
The Curriculum for the Environment and Ecology invites applications for a
tenure track position as Assistant Professor in Environmental Economics or
Environmental Economic Policy, with a preference for candidates with
teaching and research interests in the economics of ecosystem services
and/or energy. The Curriculum is a unit of the College of Arts and Sciences.
It offers graduate degrees in Ecology, a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental
Studies, and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science. Approximately
30 full-time students are enrolled in the graduate program, and there are
approximately 400 majors at the undergraduate level. Students in the program
benefit from a close working relationship with the UNC Institute for the
Environment which offers a number of opportunities for experiential
education, including operation of field study sites. Students pursuing
undergraduate degrees may select from several concentrations, including
Environment and Health, Ecology, Earth Sciences, Environmental
Decision-making, Environment and Culture, and Environment and Natural

Education Requirements:
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Economics, Public Policy or a related field
with demonstrated expertise and interest in environmental economics.

Qualifications and Experience:
The Curriculum seeks outstanding candidates who show promise of excellence
in both teaching and research. The successful candidate will have his or her
primary appointment in an appropriate department within the College of Arts
and Sciences, most likely Economics, Public Policy, or Geography. One half
of the normal teaching and service load in the home department will be
devoted to needs of the Curriculum, including service on committees,
teaching graduate and undergraduate classes, and supervision of graduate
students in the Curriculum.
