Assistant or Associate Professor in Global Health

The McCormack Graduate School of Policy and Global Studies (MGS) at the
University of Massachusetts Boston seeks to hire a tenure-track assistant or
associate professor to begin September 1, 2012. This is a joint position
with the College of Nursing and Health Sciences (CNHS). Teaching and
mentoring responsibilities will include graduate level courses in both
colleges. The new faculty member will be joining an accomplished team within
the University¹s proposed doctoral program in Global Governance and Human
Security and its related masters programs in International Relations and
Conflict Resolution. CNHS has established PhD programs in health policy and
population health and offers graduate studies across many clinical
specialties. The University is making a major commitment to the expansion of
global studies and this new faculty position represents an opportunity to
work with the existing faculty, staff, and administration to build on our
current interdisciplinary strengths and to develop new academic programs.

The faculty member will teach in these graduate programs, generate and
conduct research, as well as mentor graduate students. Preference will be
given to applicants with backgrounds in social and behavioral sciences
including, but not limited to, anthropology and ethnography, and public
health including health policy, global health, epidemiology and related
fields. We are particularly interested in scholars whose research focuses on
global health, local and international organizations working on issues of
human development, health disparities, global justice, and linkages between
human security and national security.

The University serves a diverse student population in an urban environment
on Boston¹s waterfront. Many of our students have come to Boston from
cultures around the world. The University offers many opportunities for
students and faculty to participate in global service, research and
education in countries all over the globe. The University offers strong
internal and external mentoring programs for faculty and a wide range of
multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary collaborative research
opportunities.

Qualifications for the assistant or associate professor position include: a
strong publication record; teaching and mentoring experience; and a record
of generating external grant and contract funding. All candidates should
hold a Ph.D. or the terminal degree in their field.

Review of applications will begin 12/1/11 and continue until position is
filled. Please submit a cover letter and curriculum vitae to:
