GEP colleagues,
We are pleased to announce that we are currently accepting applications for Fall 2012 admission to our interdisciplinary Master of Arts in Social Science Environment and Community Program. Please note that the application deadline for Fall 2012 admission is February 15, 2012; this is several weeks earlier than the deadline in previous years. This is an exciting time for students to consider applying to the Environment and Community Program. The program’s core themes of sustainability, equity, and justice continue to guide the program’s growth. New graduate seminars such as Political Ecology and Conservation Ecology and Society, have been developed and we have expanded the research methods component of the program. Our core curriculum is divided into three curricular areas concerning environment and community. They are Economic and Political Dimensions, Socio-Cultural Dimensions: Race, Class, Gender and Place, and Ecological Dimensions. Our graduates pursue successful careers in the nonprofit sector, education, private sector, and the public sector. Please explore our website (www.humboldt.edu/envcomm) for more information. Thank you in advance for sharing this information with students who may be interested in our program. Also, please consider forwarding this message to other departments or programs at your institution whose students may be interested in applying to the Environment and Community Program. Dr. Betsy Watson will coordinate the Environment and Community Program spring semester, 2012. Please email us at [email protected] should you have any program-related questions during that period. All the best, John -- John M.
