Dear Colleagues,

We are editing the 'International Handbook of Energy Security' for the
publishers Edward Elgar, and are seeking expressions of interest in
contributing to some remaining topics we'd like covered, as indicated at the
end of this message.

We already have commitments to most topics by a range of prominent scholars,
including John Vogler, Jurgen Scheffran, Michael Watts, Kathleen Hancock, Aad
Correlje, Cleo Paskal, Aleh Cherp and others, and we hope you can join in what
promises to be an interesting project.

The volume will include some 30 chapters in several parts, covering areas of
security of energy supply and demand, energy and the environment, and energy
and human security. As a handbook, the aim is to provide a constructively
critical overview of energy security issues and debates, rather than purely
original research per se, though original insights are anticipated and we
expect the volume will advance academic debates as well as inform
practitioners. It is the publishers expectation that the work will be included
in the Social Science Citation Index, through their agreement with Thompson
Reuters (though the latter would ultimately make that editorial decision).

If accepted as a contributor, you would then be asked to accept a strict
deadline 31 August 2012 for your contribution of no more than 8000 words, to be
submitted to Julia Trombetta ([email protected]) electronically as a
Word.doc file. This would in turn allow us to turn around any requested
editorial changes for a final version by the end of September, with the
prospect of publication in the summer of 2013.

We would welcome expressions of interest, and if you're willing and able to
contribute to one of the topic headings listed below (*), then please respond
to Julia Trombetta ([email protected]) by 15 April with your contact
information and institutional affiliation and a brief summary of your
qualifications for writing the chapter (or just a website link or attached CV,
as convenient). We would then respond by the end of April with a decision
about participation, and where accepted then provide style guidelines and
agreement forms, and respond to any queries you may have.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Hugh Dyer and Julia Trombetta
