ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF PUBLIC COMMUNICATION
 
The School of Public Affairs at Baruch College invites applications for a
position to teach public
communication at the rank of Assistant Professor. The start date is August
2013 and the appointment
will be tenure-track. The position requires teaching undergraduate and
graduate courses in public
communication practices, communication strategy, media relations, and public
advocacy. The candidate
must have obtained a Ph.D. before the position start date.  He/she should
possess an interest in working
with an ethnically and racially diverse student body. Excellence in
teaching, a commitment to research,
and the willingness to participate in university and public service is
expected. 
 
The committee seeks a candidate with an established research program in some
aspect of public 
communication, such as political communication, deliberative democracy,
persuasion, new media, social
movements, rhetorical or critical/cultural analyses of public discourse,
public argumentation, public
relations, organizational communication, healthcare communication,
intercultural communication,
international relations, or media policy and regulation. In addition,
candidates should have experience
teaching written and oral communication, argumentation, and advocacy. The
committee is open to
reviewing applications from candidates from a variety of disciplinary
backgrounds who have appropriate
research programs and teaching experience.

  FACULTY POSITION

LECTURER IN RESEARCH AND ANALYSIS
 
The School of Public Affairs at Baruch College invites applications for a
position to teach research and
analysis at the rank of Lecturer or Lecturer Doctoral Schedule. The position
requires teaching core
undergraduate and graduate courses in quantitative analysis and research
methods applicable to the
public and nonprofit sectors.  A research agenda is not required.  The
position is a non-tenure track one-
year appointment with annual renewals possible but not guaranteed.
 
Relevant teaching experience is strongly preferred.  The ideal candidate
holds a Ph.D., although ABDs
and master¹s degree holders with significant relevant experience will be
considered.  The position is
open to any academic discipline.  Candidates must have both a good practical
and theoretical 
understanding of statistics, experience with statistical software packages
and relevant data sets, and
familiarity with survey and experimental design.  The successful applicant
must possess an interest in
working with an ethnically and racially diverse student body.
