Special Issue on Environmental Politics in the Asia - Pacific region

Current and future environmental change present human societies with
unparalleled challenges. Many environmental issues are either the cause of -
or at least intensified by - human action/inaction and responses to
environmental change therefore need to be based on adaptations of our
societies. This special issue aims to critically examine how environmental
change is being addressed in the Asia - Pacific region.

I am seeking contributions of 16.000 and 20,000 characters (without empty
spaces but including list of references) from emerging scholars from a
variety of disciplines (such as - but not limited to - geography, sociology,
anthropology, political science, environmental studies, development studies,
human ecology, history) who are engaged in research on the wider topic of
environmental politics and are interested in contributing to a special issue
of Pacific News <http://www.pacific-news.de/> (soon to be called Pacific
Geographies).

Potential themes could be the following:

*       Economics and Environmental Politics
*       Ideology and environment
* Political economy and geopolitics of environmental change
*       Comparative environmental politics
*       Environmental Security
* Collaboration across time and space
*       Multi-level and multi-actor governance
* Inter- and transnational environmental regimes
* Social identities and environmental politics
*       Environmental justice
*       Protest/Resistance
*       Environmental Discourse
*       Post-colonial environmental politics
*       Environmental politics after conflict
* Non-Western approaches to environmental change
*       Imaginations and environmental challenges

 About Pacific Geographies

Pacific News is a peer-reviewed, academic magazine that discusses social,
cultural, environmental and economic issues and developments in the
Asia-Pacific region. The use of full-coloured photos and high-quality maps
provides authors with unique opportunities to illustrate their work and sets
Pacific News apart from other area studies journals (but need either
permission of the owner or the author's copyright). It targets a wide
audience of readers including academics and students, public and private
sector representatives and the general public with an interest in research
that is based in the Asia-Pacific region.
