Special Issue on Environmental Politics in the Asia - Pacific region Current and future environmental change present human societies with unparalleled challenges. Many environmental issues are either the cause of - or at least intensified by - human action/inaction and responses to environmental change therefore need to be based on adaptations of our societies. This special issue aims to critically examine how environmental change is being addressed in the Asia - Pacific region. I am seeking contributions of 16.000 and 20,000 characters (without empty spaces but including list of references) from emerging scholars from a variety of disciplines (such as - but not limited to - geography, sociology, anthropology, political science, environmental studies, development studies, human ecology, history) who are engaged in research on the wider topic of environmental politics and are interested in contributing to a special issue of Pacific News <http://www.pacific-news.de/> (soon to be called Pacific Geographies). Potential themes could be the following: * Economics and Environmental Politics * Ideology and environment * Political economy and geopolitics of environmental change * Comparative environmental politics * Environmental Security * Collaboration across time and space * Multi-level and multi-actor governance * Inter- and transnational environmental regimes * Social identities and environmental politics * Environmental justice * Protest/Resistance * Environmental Discourse * Post-colonial environmental politics * Environmental politics after conflict * Non-Western approaches to environmental change * Imaginations and environmental challenges Timeline Manuscripts, written in English on any aspect of environmental politics in the Asia - Pacific region are invited for submission.
