Dear all,

*and apologies for cross/posting*

At risk of sounding self-promoting, I thought I'd share some thoughts I
wrote on World Toilet Day 2012 (yes, there is such a thing!). My research
agenda is focused both in the global politics of sanitation and the
spatial/geographical/socio-political aspects of wastewater governance.
Thus, if there is a day or milestone that we "celebrate" that makes me feel
that my research is more than justified is World Toilet Day.

When I teach Global Environmental Politics, Public Policy, and Geographies
of Water (all courses I teach or have taught), I always remind my students
that more than 2.5 billion people do not have access to proper sanitation.
The gendered dimensions of this problem are not negligible. There is much
work to do in this field.

Comments, as always, most welcome.

Yours,
Raul
