Pre-Doctoral Fellowship Competition, Boston University China, Latin America, and Sustainable Development
Applicants are sought for a pre-doctoral fellowship position examining the social and environmental impacts of China in Latin America. The successful candidate will be a PhD student in Geography, Economics, or Political Science who has completed his/her comprehensive examinations and is open to conducting a dissertation on China in Latin America. The person must be fluent in Spanish, though Portuguese speakers will also be considered. Successful candidates will also demonstrate proficiency in quantitative analysis, environment and development policy, and have an interest in Latin America. Successful candidates will also need to demonstrable organizational skills and the ability to write clearly and accessibly. Knowledge of the political economy of China and geographical information systems are a plus. The successful candidate will receive a stipend at the GRS Teaching Fellow rate. The fellowship will begin during the summer of 2013 and last for one academic year. The fellowship could be renewed for one extra year based on merit. Supervisor for this fellowship is Kevin P.
