The Human Dimensions of Climate Change:
The Politics of Food and Water Security in Africa

Wednesday 18 - Friday 20 September 2013

The David Davies Memorial Institute of International Studies (DDMI) is
delighted to announce a major international conference on this critical topic.
It will take place in the Department of International Politics, Aberystwyth
University (UK) on 18-20 September 2013.

The conference is intended to be a landmark event in the field, and will bring
together internationally renowned experts from the worlds of public policy,
activism and lobbying, international organisations, and academia. It will be an
outstanding opportunity to discuss and debate these crucial issues, and meet
experts from a variety of fields, including international relations, law, the
natural sciences, geography, development studies, diplomacy and
non-governmental organisations. The conference will address the multiple
levels of food and water insecurity in Africa - global, international, national
and local - as well as the interplay of science and politics.

Scheduled panels include sessions on 'The global politics of food and water
security'; 'International cooperation and institutions'; 'National policies in
Africa'; 'Local dimensions'; and 'The politics of food and water science'. The
full programme will be confirmed nearer the time. The conference will start at
4:30pm on Wednesday 18 September and finish by 1pm on Friday 20 September.
