The Journal of Environmental Studies and Sciences (JESS) is seeking several
Associate Editors to replace current Board members
whose terms have expired. The editorial work involved, reasonable in light of
other professional responsibilities common to Board
members, is extremely important in establishing the content and quality of the
Journal. An Associate Editor may be asked to suggest
reviewers for submitted manuscripts, to advise on editorial policy, perhaps to
contribute material to the JESS and, especially, to
encourage diversity in the journal’s content, its professional and academic
audience, and readership appeal.

Candidates are welcome from any occupational or academic background relating to
environmental studies, science, and professions.
Candidates should also have substantial experience in relevant writing,
publication, and professional practice. The initial appointment
term is four years.

JESS is the flagship publication of the Association for Environmental Studies
and Sciences (AESS) founded in 2008. The Association is
a growing national organization strongly grounded in the hundreds of academic
environmental studies and science programs nationally
and internationally. One of its highest priorities is to give voice, support,
and credibility to these programs and to provide an academically
credible venue for the publication of related research from such institutions,
among other sources. AESS and the Journal are strongly
supported by the National Council for Science and the Environment (NCSE) and
the Council of Environmental Deans and Director (CEDD).

The Journal, issued quarterly by the international publisher Springer,
provides a peer-reviewed, academically rigorous and professionally
recognized forum for the publication of interdisciplinary environmental
research, policy analysis and advocacy, educational discourse and
other related matters. The editorial board includes a diverse range of
scholars, policy practitioners, and related professionals whose
expertise extends broadly across the sciences, social sciences, humanities, and
other disciplines related to environmental study.
