Just a reminder that we have an open position in IR at Colorado State University. Although it is not an environment position per se, we would welcome candidates with expertise in the area of environmental security or environmental foreign policy to complement our departmental emphasis on environmental politics. Michele Position Description: Assistant Professor of Political Science with an emphasis in International Relations The Department of Political Science at Colorado State University invites applications for an entry-level, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in International Relations. Specialization within international relations is open but candidates with teaching and research interests in the areas of foreign policy or security studies (both broadly defined) are particularly encouraged to apply. Required qualifications: primary teaching and scholarly emphasis in international relations; Ph.D. in Political Science or related field by August 16, 2014; evidence of teaching effectiveness; evidence of an active scholarly agenda. Preferred Qualifications: The department is especially interested in candidates with teaching and research interests in the areas of foreign policy or security studies (both broadly defined). Candidateswith a focus on regional government and politics (preferably Asia), who complement the department’sexisting strengths in environmental politics, or who can teach any of the department’s methods courses (quantitative, qualitative, or research design) are also encouraged to apply. Duties and Responsibilities: Successful candidates will be expected to offer courses in the international relations curriculum at both the undergraduate and graduate level as well as at least one upper-division undergraduate course on regional government and politics (preferably Asia) in the comparative politics curriculum. Additional teaching assignments will depend on the candidate’s interest and expertise. To enhance its growing scholarly reputation, the Department encourages applications from the best possible candidates. The normal teaching load is 2-2. Faculty members will advise and mentor graduate and undergraduate students, develop an active research agenda, and provide service to the department, college, university, and community. This is an entry-level position beginning August 16, 2014. Salary is competitive. The Department offers programs of study leading to the B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. degrees; the doctoral program emphasizes the study of environmental politics and policy. This is an open search; once the Search Committee has identified semi-finalists, Department faculty will have access to these candidate’s files.
