Assistant Professor of Environmental Social Science
Colorado College Environmental Program

Colorado College seeks a social scientist with expertise in environmental
sustainability for a tenure-track position in our interdisciplinary
Environmental Program, to begin fall 2015. We are seeking candidates with
expertise in human-environment interactions and socio-ecological systems, and
who integrate economic perspectives into their teaching and research.
Candidates who specialize in ecological economics, natural resource economics,
ecosystem services, natural capital, systems dynamics, or the social and
economic dimensions of climate change and climate adaptation are encouraged to
apply.

Teaching areas will include sustainability/sustainable development, ecological
economics, environmental management, and courses in the candidate's area of
specialization. The new faculty member will be a key contributor to our
Environmental Policy major, as well as to the interdisciplinary Environmental
Science major. Colorado College is committed to increasing the diversity of the
college community. Candidates who contribute to that goal, including women and
minorities, are particularly encouraged to apply, and to identify relevant
strengths or experiences.

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate a commitment to and potential
for excellence in teaching and scholarly research. Applicants must be committed
to high quality, innovative undergraduate teaching. Colorado College uses the
Block Plan, an intensive teaching schedule in which professors teach and
students take only one course at a time for 3.5 weeks. The Block Plan lends
itself to field and project-based teaching, and support for field trips and
community-based learning projects is available through the Environmental
Program.

A PhD in a relevant field (e.g., ecological economics, environmental economics,
natural resource management) is required by the time of appointment. Applicants
should submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, teaching statement, research
statement, graduate and undergraduate transcripts, and three letters of
recommendation electronically on the Colorado College Employment Career Site:
https://employment.coloradocollege.edu/. Application materials should be
received by October 15, 2014. Phone interviews will take place in November,
with campus interviews to follow.

Colorado College is committed to diversity and inclusion and is intentional
about creating a learning and working environment that recognizes the value of
individual and group differences. As an equal opportunity employer, we welcome
and encourage inquiries from applicants who will contribute to the cultural and
ethnic diversity of our college. Colorado College does not discriminate on the
basis of race, ethnicity, age, color, gender, gender identity or expression,
sexual orientation, disability, religion, or national origin in employment or
in our educational programs and activities.
