These two courses explore key debates in social and political approaches to environment and development. DV413 deals with themes such as local scale challenges of resource scarcity, gender and environment, livelihoods and vulnerability, institutions and adaptation to scarcity, and multi-level governance connecting local concerns with global policies; DV415 addresses the politics of making and implementing global environmental policy in the context of developing countries, and has focused on policies and contestations concerning climate change, biodiversity, and forests.
