Conference Program now online

About the Conference Theme:

The theme for the conference is “Confronting Frontiers, Borders, and
Boundaries.” The conference theme will allow AESS to showcase its
interdisciplinary strengths on this vitally important topic, including such
issues as transboundary pollution, environmental equity and representation,
international connections and collaborations, and teaching across disciplines.
In addition, the theme and location of the conference offer a chance to examine
the health of our oceans and the role of California and other laboratories for
innovative environmental policymaking.

About the Association for Environmental Studies and Sciences:

AESS is an independent professional association in higher education designed to
serve the needs of environmental scholars, scientists, students, and
professionals who value interdisciplinary approaches to research, teaching, and
problem-solving. Founded in 2008, the Association seeks to provide its members
with the latest environmental information and tools to create better courses,
strengthen research, develop more satisfying careers, harness the power of a
collective voice for the profession, and enjoy each other’s company at national
and regional meetings.

A major aim of AESS is to encourage engagement with today's socio-ecological
challenges by serving the needs of environmental scholars and scientists who
value interdisciplinary approaches to research, teaching, and problem-solving
(learn more about our association here
<http://www.aess.info/content.aspx?page_id=22&club_id=939971&module_id=35440> ;
our Journal of Environmental Studies and Sciences here
<http://www.aess.info/content.aspx?page_id=22&club_id=939971&module_id=83941>
). The meetings provide an incredible opportunity to engage with a diverse
range of environmental scholars and practitioners through sessions, workshops,
receptions, and excellent plenary talks. AESS is particularly accessible to
young scholars and students, providing opportunities to network and grow.
