Hi GEP-EDers, Does anyone know of any kind of listing of criteria/standards/requirements for undergraduate theses? This past academic year, some colleagues and I ran into a few discrepancies over what we were “looking for” in regard to quality of research, writing, and analysis (and then on what constituted “high honors,” “honors,” “trash,” etc.). Nothing serious in terms of conflict, but we realized that our common “ground floor” for what’s expected in a thesis was not much more than scaffolding….
I don’t think we want anything extensive (environmental studies theses are inevitably going to be idiosyncratic), but one or two pages describing the core standards would be helpful to both faculty and students. Please respond to me individually and I’ll collate the results; if I don’t get anything, I’ll write something up and send it over the list. Apologies if this has already been asked (I did a search through past messages, but was unable to find anything). Many thanks, Charlie Chester c.617.949.0171 | f.617.649.1189 | Skype: cchesterma Brandeis <http://www.brandeis.edu/programs/environmental> • Fletcher <http://fletcher.tufts.edu/ierp> • IP <http://ipfieldnotes.org/author/charliechester> • ieinfo.net <http://ieinfo.net/> -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "gep-ed" group.
