The Department of Technology & Society at Stony Brook University invites
applications from well-qualified candidates to work in areas of science and
technology diffusion and innovation ecosystems to inform national policy
and other forms of decision-making. Particular areas of interest include:
energy-environmental transitions, the Arctic, international nuclear safety,
disaster preparedness, and disease outbreaks. These graduate assistantships
are part of an expanding research hub that focuses on grand socio-technical
challenges. Funding for accepted students will cover 4 years with
associated teaching or research assistantships.

The Department of Technology and Society, one of seven departments in
the *College
of Engineering and Applied Sciences* at *Stony Brook University*, applies
concepts and tools drawn from natural sciences, engineering, and social
sciences to examine and enhance the relationship between technology and our
society, both regionally and globally.

programs, is located 60 miles from New York City on Long Island's scenic
North Shore. Our 1,100-acre campus is home to 24,000 undergraduate,
graduate, and doctoral students and more than 13,500 faculty and staff,
including those employed at Stony Brook University Medical Center, Suffolk
County's only academic medical center and tertiary care provider. The
University is a member of the prestigious Association of American
Universities and co-manager of nearby Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL),
