Hi GEP-ED people: I know many of you are using the first edition of China's Environmental Challenges in your courses (I'm so glad!). I'm writing to assure you that the Second Edition will be available for spring classes, I have a finished book in my hot little hand already.
The second edition follows the format of the first but has new content about: China's global impact; evolving strategies and tools of Chinese ENGOs; China's role in the climate negotiations; and the Under the Dome phenomenon of this past March. All the facts and figures have been updated. I wrote the book with the intention of giving GEP profs a tool so you can include a unit on China in your courses even if you do not have a strong China background. (And also to encourage China profs to include GEP in their classes.) The book has also been very well received as a trade book, even reviewed in the Financial Times and Wall Street Journal. You can order an exam copy via the Polity website, or here: www.judithshapiro.com. Thanks a lot, and happy break!
