Ken,

No readings, but some excellent context from participating this week at COP 22.
Wednesday was very grim, but the work went on. We met today with the director
of the USDA climate office - when asked about the future, he indicated he has
worked for the federal government for 25 years, has been through many
transitions and worked under many different administrations. It was great to
hear him tick off the multiple legislative climate change acts that his program
is required to implement such as the global change research program - and from
his perspective, federal government climate change programs will continue, even
if temporarily altered.

It was also comforting to receive condolences as an American from Strangers
across the globe about the outcome of the election. And to hear about the
thousands of programs that will carry on. We are a strong and resilient global
climate change community. I have posted photos on Facebook if you want to check
some out.

Best Regards,

Allison M. Chatrchyan

and I will share a list back to the full group. Many of our students are trying
to figure out what this means, for the planet and their own life and career
choices, and it would be great to give them some historical context. I need it,
too. Thanks....Ken Conca
