Post-doctoral fellow position: Chinese Development Finance and Sustainable
Development

Boston University's Global Economic Governance Initiative (GEGI) invites
applications for a post-doctoral research fellowship position to work with
GEGI's research team on the economic, social, and environmental implications of
China's overseas development finance. The post-doctoral research fellow will
hold a PhD in a relevant social science with a dissertation on Chinese overseas
development finance or a related topic. The fellowship is an appointment for
the 2017-2018 academic year. There is the possibility of an extension of the
fellowship for a second year subject to grant funding. This position will
provide a rising scholar the opportunity to apply research skills to applied
global policy questions.

While part of GEGI’s team, fellows are expected to pursue their own research
agenda, while also collaborating with GEGI experts on the developmental aspects
of Chinese overseas investment. In addition to writing academic articles,
fellows will be expected to contribute through the writing of policy briefs,
opinion articles, and reports, as well as to present the results of their
research in policy and academic venues. GEGI Fellows also have a modest travel
budget to conduct field and policy-related work. Competitive applicants will be
social scientists with strong quantitative and qualitative research skills and
a demonstrated knowledge of the literature and policy issues surrounding
developmental financial institutions. Further, fellows must possess strong
English-language written and oral communication skills, be able to work well
independently and thrive in an interactive and collaborative environment.

Please send the following materials to William Kring, GEGI Assistant Director,
by July 1, 2017 at [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]>. Successful candidates
will be notified in mid-July. The fellowship position is from September 1, 2017
to May 31, 2018.
