Hi Rich You could contact Associate Prof Tanya Wyatt at Northumbria University in the UK. She is a criminologist and I know she has done work on the Russian fur trade (though with a focus on the illegal trade) so she may have some thoughts about your student’s project.

Hi all, This is a bit out of left field for GEP-Ed, but I am working with a student to fashion a research project on the history and current status of the fur trade in Finland. She’s looking specifically at the luxury and non-luxury uses of furs. She developed this research interest after spending six months in Finland, and came back with some good contacts in the Finnish fur industry, and some folks in Finnish museums, but not in the academic research community. The museum contacts, as it turns out, are well connected to the industry contacts, but we are having a difficult time finding researchers or sources in the literature. This may be a limitation of the databases I have access to at my institution, or it may reflect the lack of research on the topic. I am wondering whether anyone has any contacts that might help us to learn more about what, if any, research has been published on the Finnish fur trade. Many thanks! Rich -- Richard L.
