Colleagues: We are always looking for good students for our MA programs and
have some funding streams available. See below, and feel free to forward
directly to potentially interested students. Happy to answer questions from
students…Ken Conca

Dear colleagues:

As you advise your students on options for graduate study, I hope you will call
their attention to the interdisciplinary programs in Global Environmental
Policy<http://www.american.edu/sis/gep> and Natural Resources and Sustainable
Development<http://www.american.edu/sis/nrsd> at American University’s School
of International Service<http://www.american.edu/sis/> (SIS).

Please note that we have secured funding for up to 10 new graduate scholarships
for our incoming cohort of Global Environmental Policy students. This new "SIS
Environmental Practice Award" will recognize incoming students with substantive
expertise and / or promise in environmental fields with awards of US$15,000
toward tuition. Additional funding may be available based on strength of
application. Applicants interested in this award must complete all application
materials by January 15, 2018, and should send an email the head of our
admissions offices at [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> to indicate
interest.

In addition, we have created an application waiver code for prospective
students for both the Global Environmental Policy and Natural Resources and
Sustainable Development programs who are recommended by friends of the
programs. Please have prospective students contact
[email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> to request the application
fee waiver code.

Among the defining features of our offerings are the following:

Innovative degree options

We offer two distinctive degree tracks: a professional Master’s degree in
Global Environmental Policy (GEP)<http://www.american.edu/sis/gep> and a unique
dual-degree program in Natural Resources and Sustainable Development
(NRSD)<http://www.american.edu/sis/nrsd>, in partnership with the UN-mandated
University for Peace in Costa Rica.

A commitment to service

The School of International Service is the most diverse graduate program in
international studies in the United States, with a core mission of service and
strong commitments to globalism, social justice, and civil society.

Strategic Washington location

Our Washington location provides access to a host of intergovernmental and
nongovernmental organizations for site visits, research, internships, and
employment. As one of the longest-standing masters programs of its type, we
have a large alumni network that provides students with mentoring and
networking opportunities.
