Colby College - Waterville, ME

The Environmental Studies Program at Colby College invites applications for a
tenure-track Assistant Professor position in International Environmental Policy
to begin September 1, 2019. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in environmental
studies, environmental policy, or a related interdisciplinary environmental
field as well as a strong commitment to undergraduate education. Postdoctoral
experience preferred. The teaching load is 4.5 courses, including an
intermediate-level survey of international environmental policy, upper-level
electives in an area of specialty, and contributions on a rotating basis to the
Program’s required introductory, environmental policy, and senior capstone
courses.

Specific areas of interest include, but are not limited to, agriculture, food
systems, natural resources management, environmental justice, urban studies,
and sustainable development. The successful candidate will be expected to
demonstrate an ability to collaborate with faculty and students from multiple
departments and programs, establish a vigorous research program that includes
undergraduate students, and present a vision for contributing to the curriculum
in international dimensions of environmental policy. We are especially
interested in candidates who, through their scholarship, teaching and service
will contribute to the diversity and excellence of the campus community.

We are currently hiring two tenure-track positions in Environmental Studies:
International Environmental Policy and Energy/Climate Policy. We encourage
candidates to describe, if relevant, how their teaching and research might
complement an energy/climate position. The Environmental Studies Program
offers majors in Environmental Science, Environmental Policy, Environmental
Computation, and a minor in Environmental Studies. For more information about
the Environmental Studies Program, faculty, courses, and positions please see
the Environmental Studies Program website at

international environmental policy. The college has an institutional commitment
to global engagement and learning, and the innovative DavisConnects program and
Buck Environment and Climate Change Lab support Colby students to pursue these

opportunities for collaboration with faculty across the college and with
off-campus partners. The Environmental Studies Program has a robust program to
support student research, internships, and civic engagement in Maine and around
the nation and world.

Interested candidates should submit the following materials electronically to

statement of teaching and research interests that should include evidence of a
commitment to the value of diversity in education and experience with inclusive
