Chandreyee The Environmental Studies Interdisciplinary Program at North Central College invites applications for a tenure-track position in Environmental Studies beginning August 1, 2020. We are particularly interested in applicants in the fields of environmental policy, environmental law, environmental justice, and/or geography. The successful candidate will teach our interdisciplinary core spanning all levels of students including People and Nature, U.S. Environmental Issues, and Environmental Problem Solving. Candidates will also have the opportunity to develop courses in their own field of expertise and to contribute to an interdisciplinary general education program. Candidates who can help advance the College’s community-engaged learning and experiential, inquiry-based learning initiatives are encouraged to apply. A Ph.D. in environmental studies or a related field is required; ABDs within one year of degree completion will be considered. Applicants with postdoc experience and/or experience being the instructor of record in undergraduate courses are especially encouraged to apply. The candidate must demonstrate a potential for excellence in undergraduate teaching and mentoring, as well as a commitment to scholarship that ideally includes collaboration with undergraduates. Founded in 1861, North Central College is a selective, comprehensive liberal arts institution of about 3000 students, located 28 miles west of Chicago in Naperville. The College is in a period of growth with the addition of a $60 million Science Center that opened in March 2017. The College is within walking distance of the Naperville Metra station and is next to downtown Naperville.
