Dear GEP colleagues,

The youth climate movement has been a topic on this mailinglist several times
in the last week (thank you, Dana, Archi and Aseem for sparking this
discussion!).

I am teaching a climate policy course in the upcoming semester and would like
to include a session on social movements/protests and their impact on climate
policy making. Can you recommend any research (by yourselves or by others) on
this topic which allows bachelor-students to get a first introduction and an
overview over the topic? Texts that allow to spark discussions in class are
also very welcome. I am interested in more general research analyzing whether
and how such movements can influence public policy making as well as in more
recent work on the current climate protests and their potential influence.

I am sure there is a lot of expertise on this mailinglist on this topic and I
am looking forward to your suggestions.

Please answer me directly to [email protected]
<mailto:[email protected]> , I will compile all answers and send them
around after a week or so.

All the best,

Heike

Dear GEP friends,

Following from Aseem's comment two weeks ago, here is my blog post that
predicted that the climate strikes would have limited impact:
https://ieu.greenclimate.fund/news/new-blog-will-the-climate-strikes-create-impact-?

With this, I continue to argue for the inclusion of more social sciences
(including political sciences) into planning activism and policy engagement.

Look forward to any feedback or comments.
Warm regards

Archi
