Hi gep-eders, Some of you might recall that every year about this time, I send out a reminder about my website on GEP information that I’ve put together for my students. As I’ve been incrementally building the site over the years, the label of “GEP” has become a bit off-target as there are now >200 individual pages on the site covering an array of sustainability, environmental, & conservation topics. So while GEP still lies at the heart of the website, I've changed its name from gep-guide.net <http://gep-guide.net/> to EarthWeb.info <http://earthweb.info/>, and I call it a “web·guide” since it is essentially a field guide to what’s available online in our (very) broad issue arena.
Issues of particular interest to students of global environmental politics will now be found under the top menu item on “IEL+GEP.” More generally, a few particular pages that might be of interest to students and faculty include: • the Treaties, conventions & MEAs <http://earthweb.info/ielgep/treaties.html> page, • the News & blogs <http://earthweb.info/reference/news.html> page, which now contains links to more than 100 environmental news sources, • the Periodicals <http://earthweb.info/reference/periodicals.html> page, • the Global environmental assessments <http://earthweb.info/reference/assessments.html> page, • the NGOs & CSOs <http://earthweb.info/actors/ngos.html> page, • the College & university departments, degree programs, campus groups & institutions <http://earthweb.info/actors/programs-degrees.html> page, • the Spillover, zoonotic diseases (zoonoses), One Health & Covid-19 <http://earthweb.info/keyissues/gph-spillover.html> page, • the Environmental justice (EJ), environmental racism & JEDI <http://earthweb.info/environmental/ej-jedi.html> page • the Climate change hub <http://earthweb.info/climate/hub.html> page, Of course, any corrections/suggestions/ideas on improving anything on the website are always welcome. Best wishes for a great start to your semesters. For those of you who what the hell happened to early June and its promise of getting outdoors (not to mention the tantalizing prospect of a bright shining “this summer I’m going to catch up on all my work”), here’s an article I just wrote on the 100th anniversary of the Appalachian Trail <https://theconversation.com/a-century-after-the-appalachian-trail-was-proposed-millions-hike-it-every-year-seeking-the-breath-of-a-real-life-163566>. Just think: instead of toiling away on your syllabi, you could be out hiking in…actually, I’d recommend not thinking about that one tiny little bit.
