The Department of Geography at the University of North Carolina at Chapel
Hill invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position
with a 9-month academic appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor
starting on July 1, 2022. We are seeking applicants with teaching and
research interests in *any area of Physical Geography *who will contribute
to the department's* GISci *research and teaching and/or to *interdisciplinary
data science *initiatives at UNC*.*



We are especially interested in candidates who will expand our existing
strengths in climate, water, or ecology, who creatively incorporate
geospatial technologies and/or data science to complement their physical
geography teaching and research, and who will contribute to the
department’s commitment to diversity and academic excellence. The
successful candidate will be expected to establish an externally funded
research program and demonstrate excellence in teaching at the
undergraduate and graduate levels. The appointment will be at the
assistant professor rank, and the individual hired will hold the title
of Voit Gilmore Fellow, reflecting the partnership that made the position
possible. PhD required at time of appointment.



Applications should include: (1) a curriculum vita; (2) statements of
research and teaching interests specific to our program; (3) a statement
that discusses efforts and plans to enhance diversity, equity, and
inclusion and/or how your life experiences will equip you to conduct
research with and teach the diverse populations that UNC-CH serves; and (4)
