Apologies for cross-posting

Dear colleagues,

for my ESRC-funded project "The Politics of Science in International
Climate Cooperation", I am currently recruiting for a postdoctoral Research
Associate (1/1/2022-30/6/2024). The project will study the strategic
involvement of governments in the production of Assessment Reports of the
Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and their uptake in
climate policymaking. We are specifically interested in researching how,
when, and with what effects governments may attempt to shape climate
science. Based at the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, the postdoc will
play a pivotal role in overseeing the project’s large-scale collection of
unique textual data from IPCC reports and lead on the statistical modelling
and analysis of these data. Candidates will be expected to have sufficient
breadth or depth of knowledge in quantitative research methods and ideally
quantitative text analysis and machine learning approaches to topic
modelling with substantive interests in the fields of international
cooperation, international organisations, climate politics, and/or science
and technology studies. The post will be part of a larger international and
interdisciplinary research team with colleagues in Wales and Oslo as well
as dissemination support from the Center for International Climate Research
(CICERO) in Norway, the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK)
in Germany, Cardiff University’s Centre for Climate Change and Social
Transformations (CAST), and the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research.

The full job advert and further particulars can be found here
(https://bit.ly/3nkYYzk). The deadline for applications is Sunday, 14
November 2021.
I encourage interested candidates to reach out to me through email at
[email protected] to discuss the role.

Many thanks and all the best!
Patrick
