Dear junior scholars,

Going on the job market, developing an effective publication strategy,
understanding tenure procedures, writing grant applications, and balancing
teaching and research tasks can be very challenging. Why not learn from
experienced scholars of how to better navigate those challenges?

We are the outreach committee of the Environmental Studies Section of the
International Studies Association (ESS-ISA), one of the world's largest
scholarly networks on global environmental politics. For the week of Jan. 10-14
we are organizing an ESS Mentoring week, during which we create opportunities
for junior scholars to have an online one-on-one meeting with a mid-career or
senior scholar from the ESS-ISA.

How does it work?

The outreach committee will match mentors and mentees according to their
location, questions, and expertise. During the mentoring week, mentors and
mentees will arrange to meet on the day, time, and platform of their choice to
discuss specific questions that mentees have on academia and/or professional
development. The best pieces of advice given by mentors will be featured on
social media.

Want to participate as a mentee?

If you are interested in participating as a mentee, please fill out this Google
form by November the 30th<https://forms.gle/YN1sHqYbhiDT5ogJA>. Depending on
the availability of mentors, we will find you a match and then let you and your
mentor coordinate your meeting during the week of January 10.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Best,

The ESS-ISA outreach committee
