Dear colleagues,
(apologies for cross-posting)

Hope this email finds you well. I would like to draw your attention to the
recent publication of my book *Certifying China: The Rise and Limits of
Transnational Sustainability Governance in Emerging Economies
<https://mitpress.mit.edu/books/certifying-china> *(MIT Press, Earth System
Governance Series). The book provides a comprehensive study of the growth,
potential, and limits of transnational eco-certification in China and
discusses the implications of the Chinese case for other emerging
economies. Through case studies drawn from extensive fieldwork and mixed
methods, I examined the processes by which certification programs
originating from the Global North were introduced and gradually gained
traction in three of China's agrifood supply chains - seafood, palm oil,
and tea. The findings show that the rise of eco-certification in the
Chinese market is mainly driven by state actors, including
government-sponsored industry associations, who seek benefits of
transnational governance for their own development goals.

For those who are interested, there will be *an online book launch on
Wednesday 23 Feb 4:30 PM UK time*, you can join via the following link:
