Dear colleagues, The Earth System Governance Project warmly invite you to be part of the next webinar in our ESG Speaker Series: Geopolitical Turmoil and Earth System Governance<https://www.earthsystemgovernance.org/events/esg-speaker-series-geopolitical-turmoil-and-earth-system-governance/>, 20th April.
As planetary system crises are intensifying, the war in Ukraine has shifted attention to a longer trend of a shifting geopolitical landscape. This geopolitical turmoil challenges the multilateral context in which global environmental governance seeks to shape solutions and realize sustainability transformations. In this upcoming session, the Earth System Governance Speaker Series will return to interrogate the widespread consequences of the current geopolitical turmoil for earth system governance. We examine such consequences across timescales and perspectives ranging from global diplomacy, food systems, energy, security, material value chains and economics. The event will include three scholars in a roundtable discussion: · Dr. Dhanasree Jayaram - Research Fellow at Centre Marc Bloch (CMB) and Guest Researcher at Freie Universität Berlin, as well as Assistant Professor, at Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Karnataka, India. · Dr. Marie Claire Brisbois - is a Senior Lecturer in Energy Policy at SPRU, and Co-Director of the Sussex Energy Group, Sussex University. · Prof. Simon Dalby - is Professor of Geography and Environmental Studies at Wilfrid Laurier University, Waterloo, Ontario, where he teaches in the Balsillie School of International Affairs, and is a Senior Fellow at the Centre for International Governance Innovation. Each scholar will present their thoughts and perspectives on the topic. After this has concluded, there will be an audience Q&A and discussion of around 30-35 minutes. The session will be chaired by Dr. Agni Kalfagianni, Utrecht University. Date: Wednesday, 20th April Time: 10.00 - 11.30 (UTC-5); 16.00 - 17.30 (UTC+1); 19.30 - 21.00 (UTC+5:30) Registration: The webinar is free of charge and free for all to attend, although registration is required.
