The Faculty of Social Sciences and Philosophy, Institute of Political Science,
seeks to fill the above position from October 1st, 2022.
The position is in the Department of International Relations and Transnational
Politics in the team of Heisenberg Professor Solveig Richter. The department
covers teaching of political science for the sub-discipline of International
Relations for the Bachelor's, teacher training (Lehramt), and Master's degree
programmes in political science. The research focus lies on peace and conflict
studies and European integration studies. The team has a very international
orientation and offers many opportunities for you to integrate your own
initiatives. In addition to political science, the position offers numerous
opportunities for networking and involvement in interdisciplinary research
projects, for example at the Leipzig Research Centre Global Dynamics
(ReCentGlobe).
ABOUT THE POSITION
* Fixed term depending on academic qualification (planned for 3 years)
* 100% of a full-time position, with the possibility of a part-time
position. There is also the option of a collaborative “tandem”-application
(each 50%) of two individually qualified researchers. This application will be
evaluated not individually, but jointly.
* Planned remuneration: salary group 13 TV-L
DUTIES
* Teaching in the scope of 4 LVS (2 courses per semester) and research in
the department of International Relations
* Individual academic qualification
* Developing the profile of a specialisation track (in English) in the
field of Peace and Conflict Studies within the framework of the Bachelor's and
Master's degree programme in Political Science
* Supervision of students in planning their studies as well as seminar
papers and theses in the BA, MA and teaching qualification
* Participation in common tasks of the professorship (editing the Journal
ZeFKo Studies in Peace and Conflict, acquisition of third-party grants,
intensification of international research and teaching collaboration,
especially in the Global South, university self-administration, knowledge
transfer and research communication).
REQUIREMENTS
* Completed university degree (Master) in political science or a social
sciences degree programme with a component of political science with a very
good degree
* Successfully completed PhD (in a German academic context at least with
magna cum laude)
* Well-grounded research experience in one of, and additional teaching- or
first research experiences in a second of the following research areas:
* Peace- and conflict research (especially post-conflict peacebuilding,
non-state violent actors and orders of violence, international crisis and
conflict management)
* European foreign and security policy / European security order
* Transnational relations and transnational security risks
* Research approaches from the Global South
* Profound methodological knowledge and skills in qualitative or
quantitative empirical research and experience in the acquisition of primary
data
* Language fluency in German and English
The following further qualifications are not required, but strengthen the
application
* Skills in science communication and research transfer (ex. outreach work,
linkages to political practice)
* Practical experience in the area of peacebuilding / civil crisis
management
* International visibility of research and networking
* Intercultural competencies, proven for example through study or research
stays abroad (especially in the Global South)
