Dear colleagues,

We are hiring 2 Assistant Professors in (1) international institutions and (2)
European security at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Maastricht
University, The Netherlands. The application deadline is 15 October and the
starting date is 1 January 2024. Please share widely with relevant colleagues
and do considering applying.

- The candidate for the position of Assistant Professor in Social Inequality
and Diversity in International Institutions has strong expertise on
international organisations, multilateralism and global governance and focuses
(or is willing to focus) on social inequality and diversity. The candidate may,
for instance, study the legitimacy, politicization and support for
international institutions, the representation of rising powers, other states,
and non-governmental actors, or inequalities with regard to the distribution of
funds and projects by international institutions. Quantitative methods are a
clear asset. Vacancy:

- The candidate for the position of Assistant Professor in European security
has strong expertise on the European Union (EU) and its Common Security and
Defence Policy (CSDP) as well as security studies more generally. The candidate
may focus on questions of how the EU and/or its member states develop security
and defence policies, European security following the Russian war against
Ukraine, the role NATO and transatlantic relations play in European security,
EU conflict prevention and peacebuilding, cooperation with other international
institutions such as the United Nations, or any other topic related to the EU
and the CSDP. Vacancy:

Both are permanent positions with tenure normally offered after 12 months. They
come with an attractive package, such as holiday allowance, end of the year
bonus, reallocation allowance, potential five-year tax breaks, and a potential
300k start-up package upon tenure. We're a very international Faculty in the
historic city centre of Maastricht and we do great coffee.

Please reach out in case of questions and do consider applying.

Best wishes, Hylke
