Visiting Lecturer, Political Science
Northeastern University

The Department of Political Science at Northeastern University is seeking to
fill two Visiting Lecturer positions for the 2024-25 academic year. This is a
full-time, benefits-eligible appointment on Northeastern’s Boston campus;
remote-only candidates will not be considered. The teaching load is six courses
for the academic year (three in the fall semester and three in the spring
semester).

One position is likely to cover the introductory lecture course in American
Government, the other introductory lecture courses in either / both Comparative
Politics and International Relations. The ability to teach courses in research
methods and statistics is a priority in both instances. The opportunity to
teach other upper level undergraduate or graduate courses will depend on unit
needs. While most courses will be taught on campus, the need to teach an
occasional asynchronous online course may arise.

Candidates should have demonstrated commitment to fostering diverse and
inclusive environments as well as to promoting experiential learning, which are
central to a Northeastern University education.

Qualifications:

  * A PhD in Political Science or its equivalent in a related discipline is
required by the start date of the appointment.
  * Demonstrated teaching experience in some combination of American
Government, Comparative Politics, and / or Internationals Relations. Candidates
with teaching experience in research methods and statistics will get priority.
  * The ability to teach in the asynchronous online modality is a bonus.

Applicants should submit a cover letter, CV, teaching statement with evidence
of teaching effectiveness (such as student evaluations), sample syllabi, a
diversity and equity statement, and contact information for three letters of
recommendation. Do not ask for letters to be sent.

Please address nominations and inquiries about the position to Professor
Christopher Bosso, at
[email protected]<http://[email protected]/>. Review of
applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is
filled.
