And more interesting climate stuff ... wil

Dear Climate-L reader,

Please find below some information on recent publications by the
Brussels-based think-tank the Centre for European Policy Studies (CEPS) on
climate change related topics:

1. Two recent CEPS Policy Briefs shed new light on the 'transatlantic
divide' over climate change policy.

Technology in a Post-2012 Transatlantic Perspective

While acknowledging that the opposing positions in the EU and the US can be
explained by their respective political economies, CEPS Senior Research
Fellow Christian Egenhofer argues that changes are afoot that promise to
improve the prospects for cooperation but that this will take time. In the
meantime, he argues that the EU and the US (governments and stakeholders)
should concentrate on three areas likely to be critical for the EU-US
climate change agenda: a (common) sense of direction, a determination to
make the EU climate change policy work and technology policy. Please

Industry Location and Climate Change Policy-Making in the United States

In a separate but complementary analysis, Tom Brewer of Georgetown
University explores how the pluralistic nature of the US economy - including
regional variations in the location of carbon-intensive industries - has a
significant impact on US climate change policy-making. His paper examines
regional patterns in the distribution of key industries - coal, oil & gas,
and autos - and the consequences for climate policy-making. Please download
the publication at: http://shop.ceps.be/BookDetail.php?item_id=1283

policy.
