Salary: Academic Level B $60,482 to $71,487 pa Academic Level C $73,687 to $84,692 pa (AUD)
The University of Southern Queensland is establishing a new cross-Faculty bachelor program in Social Science for introduction in 2007. The Bachelor of Social Science will comprise a set of core courses, majors in Behavioural Science, Peace Studies, Community Engagement and Transformation, Law and Politics, and Sustainable Environments as well as a number of minor and elective studies. The program will be managed by the Faculty of Arts.
The Faculty seeks to appoint a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer to assist in the further development of the program with internal and external stakeholders and to develop and manage core courses in Social Science and Sociology. There will be opportunity to develop courses within the appointee's specialisation. All courses will be taught on campus and externally.
Appointment at lecturer or senior lecturer level will be determined by experience. A Senior Lecturer will be expected to act as Program Co-ordinator and provide academic and administrative leadership. A Lecturer might act as Program Co-ordinator under the supervision of senior staff. Applicants must indicate for which position they are applying.
The position is available on a full-time continuing basis from December 2006 or as soon thereafter as possible.
Applicants for the Senior Lectureship should have a PhD in a social science discipline, preferably Sociology, with a strong record of tertiary teaching, a proven research record, and demonstrated management, leadership and teamwork skills in an academic environment. Experience of community engagement in private, public, government and/or non-government agencies is desirable for both positions.
