Hello (again :-) It's been a while since I had little gerbils. But they both seem to be overwhelmed frequently. My mum had them out to play on the couch last night (I don't think I'd have normally done this with little gerbils, but I wasn't around) and Viola had a fit... I know this often happens with little gerbils, but they seems to do this very readily when even slightly excited. Does this mean they might be epileptic when older? Also, I find quite distressing to see my little gerbils burrowing in the corner of their tank and I want to let them burrow more. I currently have a glass tank, with a ladder and a large removable ledge. I was thinking of filling the bottom of the tank (up to the ledge) with peat or woodshavings and hay, then putting the water bottle and food dish on the ledge. * Is peat and straw the best to use, or should I use woodshavings and hay? (I've got lots of everything, thanks to my sisters guinea pigs!) * Will gerbils at about six - seven weeks (V&O's age) be inclined to burrow, or should I leave it a while? Love Kathryn, Viola and Ophelia -- You know you're a Gerbil Slave... when you spent days agonising over possible names for your gerbils and call them fancy names such as Viola and Ophelia... but your kids were given names by quickly and randomly flicking through a baby name book. ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com
