Well, the pups are beginning to explore the wonderful
world outside of the nest. It's actually very cute
watching them as they charge out of the nest and scuttle
up and down the hills and valleys of the bedding.
Anyway, the little pied golden argente (still no name-
any suggestions?) was resting in a little dip, worn out
after his great journey to the other end of the tank.
The grey agouti pup was running along (if you can call
their little waddling gait running...lol) at a pretty
fast pace when he reached the top of the dip where the
argente was resting peacefully. Not having learned the
concept of "look before you leap," the agouti plunged
over the side of the dip and onto the rear of the
argente. The argente, needless to say, was rather
unprepared for this attack from above and gave a great
leap out of the dip as though his tail had been burned.
He half lept, half ran and ended up several inches away
from the starting point. Once there, he turned his
sightless head around and gave his sib what I can only
call a look of great disdain (or, at least what he could
muster). It was so cute! I am only worried that
whatever sibling rivalry had been avoided so far will now
spring up lol.
Just thought I'd share this little moment in my gerbil
history *smile*
