I live in northern Illinois and visit both a store in Round Lake, Illinois and Kenosha, Wisconsin. They do NOT sell animals of both sexes. For example: the gerbils are only males and the guinea pigs are only females. I find good luck with the products both at the store and on the web site. Our gerbil, Bruce, is from PetCo. He is very healthy, active, and loves to play with the kids. He also loves his cagemate that we already had before he came home with us. It sounds like each store is as good as the manager and employees. I started this topic to share the $10 coupon. I, myself, bought a huge bag (46 quarts) of CareFresh with my coupon.
