Enough.
I subscribed to learn more about being a responsible gerbil owner. Over
the last 6 months we've seen an inordinate number of off-topic threads
(topics that generate a significant number of replies.) Some were funny,
but most were a waste of bandwidth (Internet traffic.) I put up with them
because of the benefit from being a list member to my original goal of
becoming a better gerb daddy. (And yes, occasionally I even participated
in them.)
This one, however, takes the cake. Kristen was wrong, and might even be a
listserv "troll"; but the list membership's response has been irresponsible
and in direct contradiction to the list charter. On one of my own lists,
Kristen and all of the folk who responded to her posts would have been set
to "review". That means that none of their messages would reach the list
without my approval. I would have posted a warning, then I would have
unsubscribed Kristen and any one who continued to post on the thread.
I can't do that here, but I also don't have to waste my time filtering out
over 50% of the posts from the list. This list suffers from not having an
active list administrator. If the list membership ever gets its act
together, its messages on topic, and installs a competent administrator, I
might consider resubscribing.
For now, I and Martin and Gonff bid you all adieu...
